Competition Qualifier

•  All showcase divisions will consist of one male and one female partner, unless specifically designated as a same-gender division. 

• Maximum length: 2.5 minutes (including entrance and exit).
• Recommended: 1.5 min solos, 2 min couples, 2.5–3 min teams.
• Up to 20 seconds allowed to get into position before the music starts, and 20 seconds to exit afterward.
• Any choreography performed before the music begins will count toward the official routine time.

•  Props are allowed, but may not be discarded or abandoned on stage.
• Must remain under control until the end of the routine.

•  Tricks and lifts are permitted.
• Timing must remain consistent: On1 or On2 (recognized as 1-2-3, 5-6-7).
• Routines must be at least 50% recognizable salsa or bachata.
• The remaining content may include tricks, dips, flares, and shines.
  If the division does not specify “Classic,” lifts are optional, not required.

• No lifts allowed: one foot must remain on the floor at all times.
• Maximum of 3 tricks/dips/flares per routine.
• Continuous turns: maximum 8 bars / 32 beats / 4 counts of 8.
• Exceeding this will result in a 10% deduction.
• Music must be at least 80% recognizable to the style of dance.

•  Lifts and overheads are permitted (same rules as Cabaret).
• Routines must be at least 50% salsa.
• Amateur Teams: all student dancers.
• Pro-Am Teams: up to 50% professionals allowed.

•  All music must be uploaded in advance to the official event platform.
• Running order will be determined during the competitors’ meeting.

 Any movement that relies on a partner’s support to execute — regardless of whether the feet remain on the floor — will be considered a trick. 

Maximum 8 bars / 32 beats / 4 counts of 8 of continuous turns permitted.
Exceeding this limit will result in a 10% deduction. 

•  Not mandatory, but highly recommended.
• Must be in good taste, with non-transparent material covering all private areas.
